Penland Tour

While we were in Asheville we went to Penland and took a tour. What a great place. If only I could stay a while!

Chimney Rock

Did some hiking in Chimney Rock

Mountain View

Trip to Asheville

We had a great trip to the Asheville area.  We stayed in a cabin in Swannanoa, with lovely mountain views.

Long Time - No Post Again

Well if anyone is out there sorry for not posting.  I was busy with

work and school.  I managed to get on the pt dean's list.  How exciting.

Next semester I hope to take a Photoshop Class and Dreamweaver class

depending on the schedule.

Canvas Painting 2

This painting I actually like.  I am sure I've seen something similar before.  We took a class vote and out of three paintings almost everyone liked this one the best.  The Professor and I voted for another one which will be put in the Student Art Show in April.  Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of that one so I will have to wait to post that one.

Color Design Canvas Paintings

Here is a painting I did last semester.  We had to use tints, shades and tones.

I'm not so crazy about this one but thought I would post it.

Long Time - No Post

It is hard to believe it has been so long since my last post.  Sorry if anybody is reading this.  Here is a picture of a envelope holder made using Terri Stegmiller's instructions from her class.  I was able to finally get around to making several of these for christmas presents.

Paper Tissue Box!

Here is another from Terri's class, a paper tissue box holder. Made of scrapbook paper that was stitched and stamped with acrylic.

Paper Quilt

I highly recommend Terri Stegmiller's class at Joggles on Paper Quilting. Here is my 2nd try at making a paper quilt. I am quite pleased with this one. My design, my colors!

Color Theory!

It's hard to believe it has been a month since my last post. Life is just too hectic!!! I am one of the lucky people who signed up for Judy Coates Perez Color Theory class. this girl knows color as you can see from her website - http://www.judyperez.blogspot.com/.

I am hoping to learn more about color, even though I am planning on taking a Color Design class next semester. Here is a pic of my color chips and circles using Paebo Transparent Setacolor fabric paint. This paint rocks on watercolor paper. Hopefully I can try it on fabric soon.

Blowing Rocks Preserve

Last weekend me and my husband went to Blowing Rocks Preserve which is owned by the Nature Conservancy and located on Jupiter Island/Hobe Sound, Florida. You can read more at Blowing Rocks Preserve It is a very nice peaceful place as you can see.

Illusion of Space

Not sure what my actual intent was here but we were demonstrating illusion of space and motion. I had to start somewhere and ended here. Turns out I actually like this piece. The colors work real well together. I have finished up my classes for the semester and am taking the summer off and will start again in August.

Fabric Postcard Swap!

Here is the fabric postcard I made for the Craftsanity Postcard Swap. You can see the other ones over at flickr.

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Happy Easter! I thought this would be an appropriate post. These are my first attempts at egg drawing. I realize my lines are way to dark. I'm working on a larger scale which hopefully should be better.

Fabric Postcard Swap

I've been working on a fabric postcard swap with a "Spring" theme through Craftsanity.

I can't post any pictures yet but I will when it gets sent off.

Balance!

Here is a project I did a couple of weeks ago using the balance theme. It is painted with acrylic paints. I used some sandpaper and cardboard beer packaging to add some texture. I haven't posted any drawings yet since I have not been very happy with them , but I have been noticing some improvement. I'm starting to miss my sewing and I just have not had the time to start any new projects. Hopefully soon..

Collage

Here is another project from my design class. We had to use different sizes and proportions. I started out with the building cutout and went from there. It definitely is a little on the wacky side. I went through numerous magazines and just started cutting out interesting things that I liked and sort of put it all together.

Design Fundamentals

My blogging and quilting has kind of hit the back burner, hopefully I can change that and try to blog more. The reason for this is that I started two night classes at PBCC (our local community college), so it is kind of taking its toll physically and mentally. I really wanted to take some computer design classes like Photoshop and Dreamweaver but drawing and design fundamentals are pre-requisites for those courses. I have an interest in web design/graphic design so anyways this is a good start. It is kind of hard to go back to school, but I am determined to stick with it. Who knows, there might be a career change in the near future. This picture was a class assignment to demonstrate focal point. I am somewhat pleased with it, considering I just started cutting paper with no design in mind. We had to use black construction paper and cut out some shapes.

Another Baby Quilt!

Here is another baby quilt just finished. This was made for Marlene, who is a co-worker of mine for her daughter who is due anyday now. I helped pick out the fabric for her.
